Executive English Course Options
Course Options
At the Olin Center we understand that this commitment to learning is best inspired when students participate in selecting their own class schedules and course dynamics. For this reason we give businesses and employees great flexibility in choosing the design and frequency of their course.
Businesses and business students can select from the following course options: 1. One-on-one Private Lessons
Course start dates: weekly
Minimum age: 23
For individual professionals
Individuals who work best in a completely personalized setting may select full time tutoring option.
Once evaluated by their instructors the curriculum will be designed according to the executive’s daily job responsibilities and language needs.
A daily schedule may look as follows:
Monday- Wednesday 10-12am Private Lessons
Tuesday 3:15-4:15 Pronunciation Clinic
Thursday 9:00-1:00pm Private Lesson
Friday Visit to an MBA course at Cambridge College
The student is free to set his weekly schedule as long as classes meet for minimum 2 hours/session and classes must meet for a minimum of 10 hours/week.
The cost for 20 hours or 2 weeks of individualized private lessons is: $1300*

2. Combo Program - Group Lessons + Private one-on-one Lessons
Course start dates: every 2 weeks
Minimum age: 23
For individual professional
Many business students appreciate speaking and learning in a diverse environment with several classmates but also request the 1:1 private sessions to address their specifics needs and areas of interest. For these students we offer a Combination Program which includes morning group classes and afternoon tutoring.
A daily schedule might look as follows:
Monday –Friday 9:00-12:30am Morning Group Classes
Tuesday & Thursday 1:30-3:30 Individual Tutoring
Again, students have the flexibility to schedule their own private lesson schedule as long as lessons meet for minimum 2 hours/ session and a minimum of 4 hours a week*
The cost for our basic 2 week combination course including Monday – Friday class from 9-12:30 and a total of 8 hours of private lessons: $1145

3. Executive Group Program
Course start dates: weekly
Minimum age: 23
Minimum number: 5 professionals from the same corporation
The Olin Center offers personalized courses for groups of professionals from the same international corporation. Instructors research the corporation and are interviewed prior to beginning the course. Curriculum, texts, projects and activities are all designed according to the needs of both the corporation and the individual participants.

30 lessons per week

Basic program cost: $1800 per employee
*Program length can be varied to fit the specific needs of businesses and business students
Olin Center also offers Executive Groups an option for weekly tutoring for an additional fee.

In addition to each executive’s independent course work, the Olin Center also arranges the following specialty events as a part of each session
- Briefing by local business leaders
- Visits to both graduate and undergraduate BA and MBA business/management courses at UMASS Boston, Cambridge College or Bay State College
- Tours of local and international Boston-based corporations
- Guest lectures given by the faculty of business degree programs at UMASS Boston, Cambridge College and Bay State College
- Frequent afternoon Business Exchange discussion sessions with American students, instructors and professionals participating in business programs at local universities
- Mid-sessions and post-session progress reports for each student
Housing Options
The Olin Center offers business professionals three housing options that offer diverse facilities and appeal to individuals with different lifestyles and accommodation needs:
- Corporate Apartments
- Guest Houses
- Hotels
Corporate Apartments are best suited for adult professionals who desire privacy and proximity to the school.
These apartments offer professional high-quality, short or long-term studios, one, two, and three bedroom apartments and townhouses for short or long-term lease. There are over 100 apartment options located just minutes away from Harvard Square, Kendall Square, Cambridge, Brookline, Boston and the Boston-Metro area.
Each apartment is furnished with kitchen facilities, linens and towels, on-site washers and dryers, Cable TV with VCR/DVD, and a telephone with voice mail. They also offer off-street parking, subway accessibility and high speed internet. Maid service can also be requested.
Guest Houses Are unique from apartments in that they offer social lounges and meal-times where professionals can meet other international students, tourists and business travelers. Some guest houses have shared bathrooms and all are fully equipped with a closet, a dresser, a desk, linens and a telephone (with unlimited local service).
Microwave ovens, refrigerators, a television, laundry facilities, and computer and internet access are also available in many of the guest houses.
Hotels are typically arranged for executives studying for shorter-length courses. They offer smoking and non-smoking options and are within walking distance from the school. Many of the hotels provide business lounges with computer access and free Internet. Breakfast is provided at several hotels as well.
