Partnership with Johnson and Wales

The Olin Center is pleased to announce its partnership with the Johnson and Wales, a world-class university, where students have an opportunity to pursue a career education in business, hospitality, culinary arts, or technology. Scores of majors and degree programs are offered at the undergraduate, graduate and doctoral level. International students choose to study at Johnson and Wales for various reasons among which are their unique 4-day school week, the opportunity to earn 2 degrees (associate and baccalaureate) in four years, and hands-on training at the Universities’ partnership facilities or at worldwide co-op sites. Olin Center students who successfully complete the highest level of Intensive English and receive the recommendation of our staff are guaranteed admission to Johnson and Wales. They do not need to take the TOEFL or the GRE.

Why Johnson and Wales?
Students who study at Johnson and Wales will find the following unique features beneficial to their American learning experience…

  • three-term schedule Johnson and Wales’s Academic calendar is divided into three 11-week terms per academic year. You take three or four classes each term, instead of the usual four or five. Carry fewer classes per term and lighten your load, or carry more and graduate sooner. It's your choice.
  • upside-down curriculum You take courses in your major during the first year, learning right away if your career choice is the right one for you.
  • two degrees in four years Students in most majors to earn two degrees in four years. At the end of two years of study, you earn an associates degree and the opportunity to go on to earn a bachelor's degree.
  • four-day school week Classes generally meet Monday through Thursday. This gives you a longer weekend to pursue personal and academic interests, co-curricular activities or a part-time job to help pay for college expenses.
  • experienced faculty The faculty and chef-instructors at Johnson & Wales have been in business and beyond, bringing real-world situations to the classroom. Personal experience is the key to instruction.
  • hands-on training University hands-on training sites include several hotels, a retail clothing store, a string of restaurants and bakeries, a travel agency, an equine center and the oldest indoor shopping mall in the country.
  • industry partners We work with key businesses to identify qualities necessary in the productive workforce of tomorrow, and we design our curriculum to fit those needs.
